The big color trend for 2012 spring/summer is mint green… Yes you read right - mint green is the biggest color trend for the up coming season. The racks will be full of fashions that all done up in a soft whimsical version of mint green .

Another color trend being you will see this spring, especially in handbags and shoes is neon’s. Such as bright blues, yellows, greens, oranges, and hot pinks.

Do you Crochet? Well it’s back… Crochet vests are big this spring, maybe you can look to the back of your closet . maybe you might have a bit of a crochet number lurking.

The color that jumps out at the head of the line for this spring when it comes to neon shades, is orange! Less face it there is no other color that can make a loud fashion statement as bright orange. So need a new handbag or a great pair of shoes? Make it orange.

Belt bags are one of the great big trends… However, I am not talking “fanny packs’…Stick to the new small square flat belt bags - so cute, and less weight to carry on that shoulder.

Feet need a rest This spring kitten heels are big… The kitten heel is a good choice this spring. They are feminine, and classic, as well as comfortable.

Creamy neutrals, all done up to give you a very feminine look. Flowing pajama - styles, tunics. All meant to be classical, and again comfortable.

Think whimsical pattrens. From bird prints to deers, fruit, feathers, you name it, tops with whimsical prints are big. You will see everything from blouses to dresses all sporting Whimsical prints.

Stripes - Stripes seem to hold a place in fashion year after year. You can’t go wrong wearing stripes, from head to toe…

See How the Style Council Accessorizes Their Summer Tees!

Dressing up a basic is easy. All you need is a few necklaces, a pop of color, or a sheer cover-up according to the SC! Steal their tricks to update your style this summer.

This summer I’m all about pastel shades and light materials. When accessorizing a summer tee, I like to layer tons of cute necklaces and a hairpiece to make a simple look a little more exciting! This tee is from H&M and the hairpiece is from Forever 21. The necklaces are ones my mom had collected over the years.”

“I definitely feel like accessories can either make or break an outfit. With this look, I am wearing hand-made deconstructed denim shorts, a mint collared t-shirt, and a sheer cover-up from Forever 21. I topped off the minty top with a spiked necklace underneath its collar and a bright blue feather earring to add a pop of color. This outfit is flowy, fun, and super-summery!”

“There’s nothing more comfortable than rocking a worn-in tee in the summer time, and my favorite way to dress it up is really easy: the answer is accessorizing! Over-accessorizing to be exact. For this look, I stacked on my favorite pieces of gold hardware and added bright shorts and lips to dress up something as simple as a cozy shirt.”

“My favorite summer tee is the boring plain white t-shirt. The greatest thing about it is that you can wear one any way you like, with any accessories you choose! I love transforming my white shirt into something that calls for attention. I love chunky bracelets, rings, and necklaces, so during the summer I leave nothing out! As long as you have a good balance, I think the jewelry looks great! Also, as a little kid I used to love dressing up in some of my grandmas “kimonos.” Now, kimono-styled cardigans are coming in style and they are an awesome way to spice up a boring t-shirt like this one. When wearing a white tee in the summer, color is essential!”

17 Ways to Wear… High-Low

Whether it’s in the form of a boho-chic skirt, a glam dress, or a casual tank, rocking the high-low trend is the perfect way to show off your fashion-forward summer style!

“I love the High-Low trend, especially in a high-waist, full, spin-out skirt — such fun!” Seventeen’s former Style Council member, Lily, recommends looking on EBay for a similar updated vintage skirt.

"A designer from the company Gypsy Junkies helped me put this outfit together in NYC from their spring/summer 2012 collection. You can find the pieces I love the high-low hem trend because it’s the perfect tease — you can show off your legs and shoes without showing everything else.”

“I’m a country/pop singer and songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. For my album cover we chose this trend and made the dress! We literally cut the front of a dress with a pair of scissors to shorten it. It was pretty crazy!”

Former Style Council member Jessi said of the trend: “I have this amazing Nicole Miller high-low tank that I paired with simple black skinny pants and heels. The top itself is such a statement piece, so I styled it with more subtle pieces. This trend is so fun and is a great way to turn an average outfit into a trendy one!”

“This style is so me! What I like most about this trend is that it works well on my body type (I’m almost 5”10’)! This black skirt (from Urban Outfitters) is my favorite because I can pair lots of different things with it. It can be worn both formally and casually so I can get a lot of use out of it, which is especially great for people on a budget! Not only that, but it can be worn all season long, even in the cold winters in Canada. I would wear it with tights and peek toe booties.”

Waterproof Makeup

"Selena has beautiful skin and likes to have a slight tan in the summer. She doesn’t need a lot of coverage, so a lightweight foundation works best. You have to keep product to a minimum in the warmer part of the year. However, layering is key to making it last all day. If you want your eyeshadow to stay put in the humidity, apply a thin layer of a matte powder shadow to your lids, then take one of the CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlasts and tap in on top. Your shadow will become practically waterproof and stay gorgeous all day. Also, it goes without saying water resistant formulas always work best, like with the CoverGirl LashBlast mascaras."

Smith’s Rosebud Salve - Beyonce

“I love Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I did this trick last summer, when I was on vacation: I used it to prime my lashes before curling. It was like a natural mascara. It made the lashes hold the curl and look shiny. I use it for everything! And I love L’Oréal Elnett hairspray . It’s very light and holds whatever hairstyle you want.”

Victoria Justice -

Lip Balm

"During the summer, keep everything very minimal. Instead of wearing foundation, do a tinted moisturizer instead. Wear waterproof mascara, and stick to blush and lip gloss. Not even lip gloss — lip balm!"

Lip Balm with SPF 15

"I know it is hard to believe, but you can burn your lips. A lip balm with SPF 15 is in every single one of my bags."

Kim Kardashian

Drink Tons of Water

“Drink lots and lots of water because it can get really, really hot out. You want to make sure your skin doesn’t get any breakouts or dry areas. It’s also really good for your hair, especially if you have color-treated hair.”
